Finally, the wait was over and my LILLEbaby Complete Embossed Baby Carrier arrived!
Something about that dark blue color is classic and sophisticated.
LILLEbaby comes in SO MANY colors and prints that it took us a long time to pick. I would love to own one to match all of my outfits (and with their wide variety I bet they have a color or print to match everything).
The LILLEbaby carrier came packaged in a slender box with a rubber-like handle. The artwork on the box is gorgeous with large photos, an outline on how to wear your baby as well as an overview of the product.
Just a quick glance at the box gives one a lot of information to get started using the product quickly.
All in all the packaging is beautiful, easy to open and keeps the carrier protected and secure during shipping.
This carrier is a 6 in 1 which means that it will grow with your child. I absolutely love that no extra insert is needed for newborns. Typically newborn inserts are extremely bulky and make the baby overheat. Oliver was born two months early so he is five months old but his real weight and height is of a three month old. Oliver is 11 lbs today and quite a shorty – some babies are born at that weight and height! He also has to wear the Doc Band for a few weeks to correct a flat spot on his head so comfort and ventilation are key for us right now. Having no uncomfortable infant insert makes Oliver happy. Which means he’ll stay in the carrier for longer which makes mommy and daddy happy because we love to be outdoors.
The carrier can be used right away as long as your baby is 7 lbs or more. Baby can be worn front face out at around six months old. When baby can independently hold their head up and they have more motor skills they can be worn on the parent’s back. Kids up to 45 lbs can use this carrier which is pretty impressive.
I wanted to introduce Oliver to his new accessory so I showed it to him and discussed with him what a carrier is all about. He caressed the soft suede material and pulled on the straps. Our little baby put his stamp of approval on the LILLEbaby!
I promised Oliver we would take him on many walks and hikes in his LILLEbaby Complete! Oliver is such an easy going baby I know he is going to enjoy being carried and peeking out at the scenery. Strollers can’t go EVERYWHERE but mommy and daddy can; so now little Oliver can go anywhere with us.
It’s so nice to be able to share with our baby all the beautiful parks, forests, mountains and beaches that my husband and I enjoyed before Oliver was born.
The instruction manual that is included with the LILLEbaby Complete shows detailed step by step photos on how to wear your baby at all weights and ages. This was our first LILLEbaby carrier so the directions were invaluable. We wanted to be assured Oliver was safe and we were operating the carrier correctly. There are also many instructional and informational videos available on LILLEbaby’s website, we watched most of them to familiarize ourselves with the product. I highly recommend browsing there and looking at the videos as some of them give little pointers on the features that we didn’t even know existed! The way the videos show to insert the baby in the carrier and take him out really does make it easier and keeps the baby calmer.
Life took over and we didn’t have time to try out the carrier for a few days but finally a weekend came around when I was caught up on all my blog posts, cleaning, laundry and cooking! My husband was also caught up with his MBA classes. So we were giddy to take the LILLEbaby out for a spin!
It was a dreary and cold Saturday in Malibu and we were itching for some sunshine to try out our new LilleBaby 6-in-1 Complete Baby Carrier. So we decided to venture over the hill to the valley and enjoy the Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens in Thousand Oaks, California.
Of course leaving with the baby takes three times as long as it used to.
Thankfully the LILLEbaby carrier is ultra lightweight and tiny. So we threw it in the back seat of the SUV and off we went. No need for 30 lbs strollers with complicated folding and unfolding transformations. The carrier weights NOTHING and it folds down pretty flat and will fit in a larger diaper bag.
I helped him tighten the straps and roll them into these little sleeves so he didn’t have straps hanging everywhere. That simple yet brilliant feature is one of our favorites on the LILLEbaby carrier.
We wanted a sunny day and boy did we get it! It was a hot day and the sun was beating down! We actually put Oliver in a lightweight onesie so he would keep cool because his DocBand really heats the little lad up.
Because of the DocBand, Oliver can’t wear any hats so the little canopy over his head is extremely useful right now.
Furthermore, he’s one of those babies that really really really hates wearing hats. Like, he will cry a full on loud cry when we are trying to put a hat on him. As soon as we take a hat off, he’s perfectly calm.
The LILLEbaby proved to be quite ventilated! Oliver seemed very comfortable even in the valley heat! It was around 90 degrees but he felt comfortable, in fact for most of the walk he was asleep.
Only opening his eyes when he heard the click of the camera.
Fortunately, by being asleep, Oliver wasn’t missing out on anything because every thing was DEAD! With months without rain the botanical garden was more like a desert wasteland.
The only thing we found blooming were some cactuses but by that time Oliver was waking up and needing to be fed and changed so we had to hike down the hill.
When we got to the car taking the LILLEbaby Complete off was very easy, my husband did it all by himself and didn’t even wake Oliver up. My husband was able to whisk Oliver out of the carrier and into his carseat in one quick swoosh.
We talked about the carrier on our car ride home. My husband loved the extra lumbar support, he commented that it kept him upright as he climbed up the path to get to the top of the hill and that it relieved some weight from his back as well. The other thing that we both noticed is just how customizable and adjustable the carrier is!
My husband is about 5’10” and I’m about 5′ and with just a few pulls of the straps we can get it to fit. Very quick and easy to switch from me wearing it to him wearing it. The back straps can also be crossed for even more support, that’s a feature I really loved because I’m very small and it’s hard for me to carry baby Ollie sometimes. Some of the straps have dual buckles which is very convenient when Oliver is older and we are carrying him on our back.
I also personally LOVE all the pockets the LILLEbaby comes with! Typically when I wear carriers I’m walking trails, or taking sidewalk paths in the park or just walking down to the beach. As a new mommy, my typical uniform is leggings and a t-shirt so it seems I never have pockets to carry my keys and iPhone in. So I am super excited at the large pockets where I can put my stuff and Oliver’s stuff.
Because we live in “Sunny California” the hood is a MUST! Because it seems like we are always hiking down sunny paths.
My husband was asking if this was a luxury designer brand because of the suedecloth interior around the head area. The overall fabric is also really luxurious yet sturdy. It really does feel like a high end luxury item. The entire LILLEbaby carrier is also very lightweight which is important especially on long hikes which we love to do around Malibu.
At the end of today we were so happy we got to share one of our favorite places with Oliver, even though the drought killed all the flowers, we still had a great time as a family and with the LILLEbaby Complete carrier we are sure to grow Oliver’s love of nature.
